As part of the Making Connections project, in 2018 I was honoured to be part of the contemporary performance “The Sound of Shadows: Entree”, a collaborative work inspired by the Bundengan musical instrument, from composer Bianca Gannon and artist Jumaadi, with musicians Sa’id Muhammad and Luqmanul Chakim and dancer Mulyani. My original role was that of introducing the different partners and enabling time, space and funding for them to bounce ideas off each other and create something beautiful. However I was pulled in to participate as assistant puppeteer to Jumaadi, becoming part of the performance and gaining an even deeper appreciation for every aspect of this project.
